Meghan Elizabeth Nowe, who resides on Brunswick Street in Liverpool, was brought to provincial court in Bridgewater June 9 in custody, but did not enter a plea. She remains in custody awaiting a show cause hearing, which is expected to be held June 13.

According to court documents obtained by The Advance, police allege Nowe unlawfully killed her sister, Allison Nowe, thereby committing manslaughter.

The documents also allege that Meghan Nowe committed criminal negligence by giving Allison Nowe methadone, which police say caused the death of the 22-year-old Bridgewater resident.

Police also allege Meghan Nowe was trafficking in methadone and breached the terms of a 2014 probation order by failing to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Bridgewater Police Service said in a previous news release that it has been conducting a criminal investigation into the suspicious, sudden death of a 22-year-old female from Bridgewater on April 28.

As a result of this investigation, police arrested Meghan Nowe on June 8.

According to Allison Nowe's obituary, she was a graduate of Park View Education Centre, attended St. Mary’s University in Halifax and had just moved into her own apartment. She was very artistic and had a great talent for drawing, makeup and fashion and loved shopping, vintage things, photography and being with her family and friends.
